Cost Segregation

Cost Segregation Studies in Texas
Deduct more of your building, sooner.

When you buy, build or renovate commercial property, much of the cost is normally deducted slowly over 39 years. A cost segregation study is an engineering-based review that identifies parts of the property, such as certain fixtures, wiring and site improvements, that can be deducted much faster. That can lower your taxes and free up cash now.

Under the 2025 tax law, 100% bonus depreciation is permanent, which makes these studies more valuable for many recent purchases and renovations.

A good fit if you: own commercial property you bought, built or renovated, and you pay federal income tax.

R&D Tax Credit

R&D Tax Credits for Texas Businesses
Get credit for the work you already do.

The federal R&D tax credit (IRC Section 41) rewards U.S. businesses that develop or improve products, processes, software or methods. It isn’t just for labs. Manufacturers, contractors, engineering firms, software companies and many others qualify.

Our specialists, including IP attorneys with engineering backgrounds, document each project the way the IRS expects. You may be able to claim the credit for the current year and amend recent prior-year returns.

Activities that often qualify

Developing or improving products
Designing more efficient, lower-cost processes
Engineering and design work
Prototyping or modeling
Quality assurance and testing
Specialized or technology-driven assembly
Developing tools and tooling solutions
Process improvements that boost productivity

A good fit if you: are a U.S. business doing any of the above and pay federal income tax. Some newer small businesses can also use the credit against payroll taxes.

Property Tax Review

Property Taxes Aren’t Always a Fixed Cost

Make sure your assessment is right.

After income taxes, property taxes are often a business’s largest recurring tax bill, and assessments aren’t always right. Our property tax specialist reviews your real and business personal property assessments to look for savings. Savings found this year often carry into future years. Results vary by property.

We review both commercial and residential property.
